My plan to wake early at 5am in order to make a few train connections to see the finish of today’s tour stage all went horribly wrong. I woke up at 2am with some serious stomach pains. 2.30 I couldn’t sit still – every way I lay, it seemed to get worse. A few minutes of this and I had to bolt for the toilets, through the rain, and hurl! and then once more.. and.. no I think we’re done now..
The rest of the night was spent in agony with a couple more close calls with the toilet. Suffice to say, I could barely walk at 5am when I needed to be packing up camp. So, no TdF for me just yet ๐
Could’ve been the shoarma (kebab thing) or it could’ve been too many strawberries (is that possible?!). I don’t know but today, with no sleep, no food, etc.. I don’t feel like riding. I was thinking about heading to Amsterdam and camping but I really want a proper bed and closer toilets! ๐
I did have a nice afternoon, yesterday, though. Riding along the canals here is awesome. The weather was nice and there’s plenty to see and it’s hard to get lost with a canal to one side! ๐ Lapping water is such a nice sound to cycle alongside too..
Anyway, I’m going back to my land of misery and see if I can work out a course of action. Urgh.
(van) Dykes revenge ๐
Man, I feel your pain. I understand how it feels to be stuck in a foreign city with your travel plans thwarted due to illness, with no friends to talk to and no luxuries to ease your suffering… But suck shit all the same! "Hurgh! Hwurgggggggggh!!! Ooops… wait… here goes the other end… plop…plop… pluurphhhhhhhhhhth! Plppppppthhhhhhh!!!"
And they’ve probably got cheap-arse toilet paper in the backpackers toilets there too!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahajahajahajah!!!
It’s best to start the moisturising program early, before it becomes necessary!
Hip, Did you get in contact with Grant, Sheila and Terry???
Never mind i asked them myself!!
you are sooo slack!
I did. They sound okay. So does Tezz. I haven’t heard back from Dan but he is slow on the mobile thing and my phone is locked away right now anyway.
Um… Ant.. Suck me! I recover quicker than you! hahahaha and now I’m in Amsterdam! hahahaha! You go to Africa and get Malaria.. I got to Amsterdam and get marijuana! hahahahaha and mushrooms hahahaha magic magic mushrooms! hahahahaha ๐
Dude! You have to come over here!!!! It rocks! hahahaha
Ha ha!!! I bet your parents are having a fit right now… But I’m sure Mrs B had a dip every now and then eh?
What did I say about "settling in" somewhere? I think that you’ve found your place to settle in for a while. Enjoy. Just don’t get so smashed that you have no regrets as you can no longer remember your umm…..
Sorry to disappoint Ant, but NO. And, cool that I am I’m not that cool that I’m ok with this. But Stu is his own boss, I just hope he enjoys, but moves on and is safe. What else could a mum ask?
See how cool she is!! Not happy but understanding.. *hugs Mum* ๐
So are the days of our lives..
Oh, I’ve left Amsterdam now, thank fsck! I’m way over in the east, about 110k away from ‘dam in Apeldoorn. Even after ‘dam I can manage 6hrs of riding!
Awesome riding too. I love the Nether regions.. I mean, The Netherlands.
Big ups for the resilience of the human body! ๐
Hooray for Human Endurance! At least you were doing tried and tested things, unlike a couple british girls I was hanging out with in Malawi.
Girl X "We were trying to get hold of some pills, but Davie couldn’t get any. But he could get this stuff called ‘Mantrax’, but Garry said he doesn’t want it on the premises. We’ve got no idea what it is, but we’re up for it though."
I just fired up the Chillum instead.
Mrs B: You could ask him to bring back the Milk and Paper maybe?
Yeah, that’s just frickin’ stupid!
Um, I can bring back the milk and paper but one will be fermented and green and the other will be in dutch – I’ll leave it to you to work out which is which..
If you pack the newspaper in with your jocks, both descriptions would work for both items!
