100 year old sets new age-group Hour Record

A 100-year-old cyclist from France has set a new age group world record for The Hour an incredible 86 years after his first competitive race.

Robert Marchand, who lives in Mitry-Mory near Paris, had to enter that debut race under an assumed name because he was too young to compete.

  1. The package number and quantity are identical with each other.Quantity matters as much as quality of price

  2. i think this is a really interesting websitearticle i really enjoyed it ! i also found this new website called textme4free.com and you can use it to text for free anywhere in australia !! its free ! try it !

  3. I think Stu is being a bit lightweight – PBP is 1200km,, and has been around for ages. Lands End to John O’Groats. Hubert Opperman’s cross Australian record. Come on distance man, socks up!

FYI Bartalli did 380km training rides during WWII to smuggle documents which helped save the life of hundreds of Jews.

    Pull your socks up!

  4. I’m affraid Stu needs to harden up a bit Mrs B.

For instance: Bartalli did 380km training rides during WWII to smuggle documents across borders which helped save hundreds of jews. That’s hard.

While hats off for doing 24hr rides, they’re just the tip of the iceberg. And he’s only done them on plastic bikes with skinny tyres – not real bikes.

Here’s some rides I suggest he pops into his schedule, once he pulls his socks up:

    Paris Brest Paris – 1200km.

    Hubert Opperman’s trans-Australia record

    RAAM (Race Across AMerica)

Round the world bike race – Had he been wiser early this year he could have competed in the round the world bike race – it even started in London!

  5. PBP isn’t a race. Neither is LEJOG although you could set a record.

Bartalli, like me, also fell into a river whilst riding in France.

I’d love to ride longer in Australia but not living there makes it expensive. RAAM is too expensive and full of rules. Round the World is too expensive and too time consuming.

Anyway, if you spent more time riding than writing on here you might not have run out of breath on that night ride.. 😉

  6. Ah, Touche! Yes, time for bed, for ride time making tomorrow… Loooove the 29er. Oh, did I mention that my current warm up ride is over 3km averaging almost 9%… No wonder I ran out of breath on our ride – my strength took my breath away!
