L2P or London 2 Paris or Londres-Paris

Londres-Paris header

Whatever you want to call it, I have paid the ?100 entry deposit and plan to ride from London to Paris in late June 2008.

Now, embarrassment is one way to kick-start a training regime, not one I’d recommend but, err, too late, let the training commence!

Roller races lasting 20-30 seconds are one thing but what about riding 600k over 3 days complete with rolling road-blocks, leader’s jerseys and a tonne of fit buggers to ‘race’?

This certainly isn’t a cycle tour and the more I read the website the more I’m forced to think about some serious hard riding. I guess this will give me something to write about 🙂

  1. That’s a great event. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to do it last year. Whatever happens, make sure you put yourself down for group 1, the fastest group. Oh, and give up work. You won’t have time for it with all the training you’re gonna be doing.

    Bon Courage!

  2. I know Cat 1’s that are doing this and I’m certainly not up to that level of riding. I don’t know what pace these guys ride at on this type of ride but I’m assuming it’s a lot faster than my norm.

Also, I’ve got to be careful not to kill myself on the first day. Knocking over 200k isn’t an issue but backing it up with 230k the next day might be.. especially if I get too ‘excited’ 🙂

How much training did you do?

How fit were you beforehand? Race fit?

I notice you are doing lots of racing on your blog and I’m trying to judge my own level (sitting in front of a pc all day, eating crap kinda training 🙂 )

  3. Hippy – I’ll mail you with some info’ from last years event.

    Group 1 now! D’ya hear me? It’s group 1 for you! 🙂
