On one hand, cycle touring in Germany is fucked

On one hand, cycle touring in Germany is fucked.

On the other hand, cycle touring in Germany is fucked.

Pausing to think about this matter, before I make any rash judgements..

*thinking*

Cycle touring in Germany is fucked!

In case the point I’m trying to make isn?t clear enough yet – cycle touring in Germany is fucked.

If you are a road engineer in Germany, please kill yourself, before I find you and do it instead.

I think I have reached the end of my tether with this cycle touring lark. I’m either gonna bail to London or perhaps give Germany another chance using trains. MAYBE I will ride again.. but it’s not looking good..

Oh, I still think German people totally rock, it’s just the cycling I?ve got issues with. I had a frickin ball here last year. It’s just not working for me when there’s riding involved. I might blog properly, later, but now I’m too fucked to care.

*off to get rear wheel fixed again and find drugs*

  1. Sounds like a Man with a Plan. The drugs I mean. Find yourself on a autobarn? How does Jan train? Or a more pertain question *how* and *where* does Jan train?

  2. Dude!

You rode into the country. Turn around & ride out of it!

We may think of you tomorrow whilst ‘Goating’.

  3. Go to East Africa. You’d love cycle touring around there. The roads aren’t crowded, and you could seriously afford to fill a pannier with pot and slowly make your way around, smoking it and making some gooood friends! Great scenery, great people. Cheap, cheap, cheap. For the prices you’ve been paying for dorm accom, you could have the best room in the place with a view to die for.

You’d want to get the rear wheel thing sorted before heading off though. Not too many decent parts there.

    * Get your rear wheel fixed and get to Africa – then your drugs will be sorted for a loooong time *

    Anthony – I didn’t develop a habit, I grew an ability!

I met Jan around 3am last night in a Kebab shop in Hamburg.. ask Tam a.k.a Princess Gullible 😛

    BikeSoiler:

Problem is I cant find my way out of the freakin? country! 😛

Nah.. I’m trying to take a break in Hamburg and then use trains a bit. Perhaps to Berlin and then south. Might pick up the riding again a bit later. I just need a break I think?

    Ant:

You are a bad, bad man.. but anyway I want to get back into a groove soon. Yeah, it doesn?t bode well with your new-found ideals, but I like a rythm in my life (at least before it becomes a rut :P). I -want- a paying job and stable accomodation and a "commute" and proper food and REAL TOWELS.. but at the same time I want to keep travelling. No wonder I’m so confuzzled!

Even if I head back to the UK, I now know that I can survive alone on the road. This is powerful knowledge. This allows me to pack up "home" and ride around the UK or even fly the bike to another country and do it all again (funds permitting!).

I just can?t leave Germany now – it would leave me bitter. I have to leave here happy that I?ve given it a good go and I’m not close to that yet.

Shit.. I need to go sort out accom!

  5. Hey dont give it away, you’ve only just escaped from the Netherlands after so long! Touring paths in southern Germany seemed pretty good to me.

Remember to make it to the Alps. Did touring ride on the weekend with wifey. Climbed the Gotthard Pass (1700m climb) then descended 1000m to Airolo. Train back to Andermatt and our camp. Then another climb out of town and the follow the wild mountain Rhein to Chur. Total climbs of 1100m, descents of 2000m that day and 100km that day!

Already hatching another mountain pass ride for Sunday 🙂

    Cheers,

    Greg

  6. Stuart… one word…

    EMPOWERED!!

No longer only wielded by repressed feminists. Now more of us are realising that… ah… fuck it… I’ll shut up.
