Ed’s said more about this ride than I could here: http://omcoc.blogspot.com/2007/07/pre-dynamo.html
I will add that I’m doing this for the first time (finally), doing it on the Soma fixed (42 x 15) with a bunch of other fixed gear freaks from londonfgss.com.
Wish me luck.
Good luck. A 42×15 will be ideal, perhaps a bit undergeared when the ‘sun’ comes up!
The biggest worry right now is the rain, but hey. It just means I won’t bother cleaning my bike beforehand.
Cheers mate. I’ve been a bit worried about the gear as initially it was quite high but riding it this week to work has got me more used to it (I’m usually on 44×17 69" versus the 75").
I’m much more able to deal with being undergeared than overgeared especially since this is a social ride for me.
I’ve got a lot more insulation than you so I guess I’m not as bothered about the rain 🙂 I’ve cleaned my bike though, damn it!
hey hippy – great blog – as a fellow melbournian and ex londoner really enjoy reading about your adventures in uk – keep up the good work. just had a look at fgss and was wondering is that yer raleigh in the bike porn section – nice frame!
‘I’m not as bothered about the rain’
Oh dear oh dear oh dear.
mudeye: Hi! If it’s the red/black/yellow one.. probably. If not, then it ain’t mine.
Well, the rain was just one of the things of a long list that was bothering me.
It was lovely this weekend though, wasn’t it 🙂
Yep! 140k or so to Box Hill on the club run. Damn did I feel the heat! My tan lines are almost like I was riding in Aus!
I’m off to Poland tomorrow so hopefully get some more sun to even them out.
