Twatster.. rides!

Specialized Langster 2006 Twatster

Built this up yesterday after Dale got me some Fuji bars and a cog that was surely salvaged from the Titanic’s engine room!

It’s brakeless at the moment so it’s only done a couple of nearby shopping runs but I have a brake ready to fit. The cog is slipping (not good brakeless!) so I need to show it some hippy love (that’s 95kg + gravity + anger + muscle power) before smacking the lock ring down with something (the ancient cog has a sticky-outty lip that stops me using my DA lockring tool – doh!).

Initial thoughts: It’s low. The saddle to bar drop is greater than on all my other bikes so I can’t see myself in the drops much. Even with kinda heavy wheels it’s fscking light! It’s ugly (although Mal seems to like it) and it should blend in with commuter bikes at work, which was the main aim for this machine. With the cog slipping and no brakes I’ve not ridden it hard yet but I reckon it’s gonna be pretty damn quick. Slave to the NJS and 531 need to embrace the teknology! 🙂

  1. I’m with Mal, I don’t think it’s ugly. It has a certain something about it, it has character.. or maybe the blackness makes it look a little evil, having an attitude, maybe reflecting its owner :p I esp like the handle bars, looks like you stripped them off a big horned sheep!

  2. The bars are huge. They’re bog stock ones off a Fuji Track. The pic angle doesn’t help nor does the bar angle – they need to go up a bit. I’ve just fitted a brake so it might be on the road soon.

Sheila, very jealous of that apple pie! Please post me some! 🙂

  3. Sheila: Hahahahaa! Mal must have been reading my mind while I was looking at

your pie pics! Look what appeared on the kitchen table tonight…

Aeek: I’ve sold the Spinergy and London crims will take anything, especially if there’s a hint of bling.

Trick to shooting bars? Um, not having brakes or gears fitted helps 😀

I shot that pic from an angle slightly higher than horizontal outside so it’s lighter than your shots above.

  4. tee hee glad to see that Mal is looking after you, i was feeling a little guilty at my evilness :p Hope you didn’t eat it in one sitting!

Did you see the pics of the turkey that Grant #1 cooked?? It was giant!

  5. It lasted two days which is pretty good for me. Simo was talking to Matt about buying a 22lb turkey for $6USD!!

  6. Yep… 22lb for $6 on sale from $56! After thanks giving specials, put it in the freezer and good as new for xmas lunch. 22lb’s / 4 people = 5.5lbs of turkey each… and i’ll make damn sure everyone eats their share, i’m not wasting that 6 bucks
