Want a quick ?18?

This happened ages ago but I forgot about it. How to make ?18 quickly..

1. Go to Tesco, pick up a ?2.08 sandwich.

2. Proceed to checkout and hand over ?2.10 in change (?2 coin + 10p coin).

3. Wait for checkout chick to fumble with.. “um.. notes?” and then.. “what the?”, hand over a few fivers and some coins and then apologise for not having any ?10 notes?!?!

4. Keep poker face on (easy in London) and with a hint of disappointment say “hmm, that’s okay”

5. Leave as quickly as possible before she realises she just handed over ?18 instead of the 2p she was supposed to!

“It’s the little perks in London that are often the best.”

  1. Or buy some nylon straps for ₤3 from a tourist trap backpackers store on Oxford Street, hand over a ₤10 note, then have the guy give me my change in such a way as to confuse the hell out of me. He thought I handed over ₤50, and was dutifully short changing me ₤5. I had my hand out and he just kept on putting notes into it.

So I walk in with ₤10 and walk out with straps plus ₤42, guy in shop thinks he scored ₤5, everybody is happy.

  2. You’re right about the (?) UKP symbol!

I guess you win on the ‘wrong change’ front, though how a Tesco bird quite managed to confuse a ?2 and 10p coin with a ?20 note is beyond me!

  3. aww… i know i’m being a kill joy but the poor checkout chick gets the ?18 deducted from her pay for the day’s work. negative amounts that don’t balance on her till gets taken from her pay. bad hippy.. bad bad bad hippy.

  4. That’s not necessarily true. There would only be a deduction from her pay if there was some kind of ‘miscalculation clause’ written into her contract.

You’d need to ask Tesco what their policy is regarding these deductions, I don’t know.

If paying back losses ‘was’ written into her contract you’d think she’d be more careful counting out change.

If tightarse yuppie scum like me didn’t spend so much at Tesco Express stores she might have no job at all.

If I was religious I’d already be going to hell so I may as well milk it! ๐Ÿ˜›

  5. If any shortcomings in the till were deducted from her pay, it would be in her interest to shortchange every customer, to build up a buffer against the till being short.

    I should be a lawyer…

  6. Like when their 2for1 deal doesn’t apply to the CHEAPER yet same brand soup..

I shall never forgive them for that!

    NEVER!
