I'm going to the Manchester World Cup

Manchester

Manchester is one of four major cities on three continents hosting the 2006-07 UCI Track World Cup. The Grand Prix-style competition ranks only behind the World Championships and Olympic Games in prestige.

The Manchester round of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup will take place on 23-25 February 2007. Competitors from over 30 nations will be bidding for individual and team titles.

Each round comprises 14 disciplines – eight for men and seven for women. Competition is spread over three days.

Events range in distance from the 500 metres women’s time trial to the 40-kilometre men’s Madison.

Block P…

and right next to the bar Saturday and Sunday, thankyou very much Mr. Credit Card!

Now, to book a hostel bed and find a club where I wont be stabbed within the first 30min.

Hope you all had a nice xmas and nye..

I did. Polish/Aussie xmas, showing Mal’s folks around London, and then a relatively quiet NYE in the city watching some cool fireworks. I think I was partied out by the time NYE rolled around anyway so it was good to give the internal organs some rest (that’s if I have any left).

The crazy critters at BCH put me to shame when it comes to xmas decorations, especially since I had none. I was able to bask in the glow from everyone else’s xmas lights (seems the Westies love that kind of thing), safe in the knowledge that Al Gore won’t be hunting me down for having an excessive carbon footprint.

London is feckin’ great to be riding around these days. The weather is nice (relative term) and traffic is at an absolute minimum. “There’s no rest for the wicked” must surely apply to me then, as I seem to be one of a very small minority who are actually working in London at the moment! Where did everyone else go? Did Ryanair have another ticket special or something? I’d be jealous but the lack of a 2k-long traffic jam on fUxbridge Rd. suits me just fine! The fixie is back together (good thing since the Ribble is now dead) and out in force. I really should hunt down a smaller gearing setup though as the current 46-17T is fine when the roads are barren but tiresome when the stop/start nonsense begins again. Yeah and I should also do this and that and this and.. “oh look, a website about procrastination..”

Merry Xmas and all the best for 2007 to anyone I didn’t say similar to already. Stayed tuned for more ranting and whining when the good mood wears off.. should happen some time tomorrow.

Top Gear presenter helps cyclist

Hammond and his wife Mindy helped cyclist Adam Gellatly, 19, when he smashed into a tree at 35mph and was thrown onto the road outside the couple’s home in Redmarley, Gloucestershire, last week.

Hammond later wrote about his encounter with Adam in his column in the Daily Mirror, in which he blasted motorists for their “selfish” attitude towards cyclists.

“I felt much aggrieved on his part and found myself siding with the cyclist against the lunatic motorists wallowing in their air-conditioned luxury, while brave cyclists battled through the elements and tried to avoid getting felled by stray trees,” he wrote.

What about you? (/brag)

Actually the fun really started when we hit our local. Lock-in until 5am!! Free booze, finally learned the bar manager’s name – though not her cup size, played behind the bar, toured the cellars! Wandered out into the fog and fell asleep on the N7. Made it home just as my alarm was going off telling me to go to work.. ha!

I did actually venture in – some time around 2pm.
