Now that..

was a fscking fantastic game! I will endure the hideous hangover and loss of voice tomorrow for the memory of our victory and the *cough* Walkabout atmosphere that went along with it.

I hope also that our young Swedish friend scores the job she is going for tomorrow. Aussie Aussie Aussie!!! Oi! Oi! Oi!

Now can I go sleepies?

With around two weeks to go until the London 10k, I figure I should start “training”. Two weeks should be enough to beat Haile Gebreselassie’s 28:12, right?

Pah! I was all excited about racing it before being chopped up but now just jogging around and maybe not walking all the way will be satisfactory.

I managed a very slow 30mins of running after my commute home tonight. I managed to get lost, running random streets, but made it home eventually.

On that note, here’s something for the foot fetishists amongst you:

blog.wired.com – no more funky footwear?

We’ll beat Brazil next time..

Re-cycle.org needs your old bikes!

www.re-cycle.org

At 8pm tonight, a container of bikes is being shipped to Africa. The container is not full and needs people to donate any unused bikes.

It’s leaving from Vauxhall tonight but I can’t remember the full address. Doh! They accept monetary donations too and given that I only have one bike that I’d like to keep I think I’ll go this route.

Okay.. NOW I’m leaving for the pub.. AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!!!

Borat – The Movie

Oh man!

Mal and I were sunning ourselves in Haven Green on the weekend and a guy approached us asking to do market research. Unlike most people, I actually like getting my opinion across in these sort of things and when he said we’d get free movie tickets and it’d only take a minute or two.. well.. schweet!!

After providing him with my fake details (hehe sucker!) and answering things like “Yes, I am a fan of the Ali G show” he gave us tickets to a preview screening of “Borat – The Movie”!!

When we arrived Tuesday night, the Ealing cinema was all locked down and video camera’d up.

They were taking cameras and camera-phones off everyone and putting them in plastic bags! I’d left all my phones at home (yeah, all three, I just bought a new one and I’m waiting for the number to transfer while I use up the last of my Virgin pay-as-you-go) and then we had to fill in more forms – with more fake details (hehe suckers!).

The movie. It was fscking funny!!! Very fscking funny. But if it actually gets released to the public… man, total fluke!!

I mean it offended everyone!! It was awesome It was sick.. we are talking sixty nine, guy on guy, fully naked in one scene, Americans shown to be rednecked as ever, ghey parade groping each other, heaps of anti j e w stuff, anti woman stuff.. it was fscking full on and DAMN FUNNY (for me, being a white, non-religious male).

I know why there’s no Ali G any more.. it’s because the guy is in fscking prison in the US!!!

One of the questions on the survery at the end of the movie was “Would 20th Century Fox distributing the movie would affect your opinion of the film?”

I didn’t think 20th Century Fox would touch this with a barge pole but if they do – cool. So, is Mr Cohen in jail in the US or what? How much was “really real”?

They were filming viewer comments after the screening for ads I guess but we were too shy for that kind of thing 🙂 See it if you can. I will be interested in how much they cut out..

G&S, Gerds (a mate of mine here from Oz staying here for the weekend) and I are off to Finnegan’s Wake (biggest screen in Ealing!) to watch Oz beat Brazil in the World Cup!

Fame Alert 2 and some Brain News

Ewan McGregor crossed my path, walking down Baker Street, chatting with a woman about a school!

According to the office monkeys, he does actually live in London somewhere.

If brain surgery isn’t a fame magnet then the hallucinations are certainly not what I expected! I was actually late to work, when I saw him, returning from an appointment with my neurosurgeon..

Want an update?

I know nothing new, basically. They still don’t know what it is. The tests seemed to suggest it’s not an infection like originally thought but Dr Shakir mentioned the tests are not always accurate. Great. I’m booked in for another MRI scan late July. I saw the pics of my original MRI – very cool!! He said I could get a copy on CD too – beats your bog standard broken arm x-rays that’s for sure! 😀

I saw Elle McPherson on the ride home tonight…

She was stepping out of a big, black 4wd in Notting Hill and I had to ride around her. If it was her (and I got a good gawk and it sure looked like her) it topples my previous ‘most famous’ sightings of:

Tom Gleisner (from D-Gen and host of “The Panel” on Glenferrie Rd).

Jeff Kennett in The Glenferrie pub (his son worked there, I was told).

Dylan Lewis (host of ABC’s “Recovery” show, getting off the Tube somewhere in ‘don)

The German Prime-Minister/President/Boss-man and probably some more I can’t recall because it ain’t that important as they all pale in comparison to my own reflection (I just threw that in to see if anyone was still paying attention? :P).

Real Football

No cycling here Chop. There’s so much interest in the World Cup here (featuring a game called “soccer” for those back in Oz) and this is a funny take-off of the Nike Football ad. I was never this clever at uni:
